These Fun Spooky Spider Deviled Eggs are a quick, easy, and adorable Halloween appetizer. Made with simple ingredients like eggs, mayo, and mustard, they are decorated with pretzel sticks and candy eyes for a creepy-crawly treat that is perfect for parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise (Hellmann’s or similar)
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Paprika for garnish
  • Thin pretzel sticks or rods for legs
  • Small white and black candy eyes
  • Optional: hot sauce, garlic powder, or fresh herbs

Instructions

  1. Place eggs in a single layer in a saucepan and cover with cold water by an inch.
  2. Bring water to a rolling boil, then remove from heat, cover, and let sit for 12 minutes.
  3. Prepare an ice bath and transfer eggs to it immediately after boiling; let cool for at least 10 minutes.
  4. Peel the cooled eggs under running water, tapping and rolling to loosen shells.
  5. Cut eggs in half lengthwise and scoop yolks into a medium bowl.
  6. Mash yolks with mayonnaise, mustard, vinegar, salt, and pepper until smooth and creamy.
  7. Transfer filling to a piping bag with a star tip or a Ziploc bag with the corner cut off.
  8. Pipe filling into egg white halves, creating a swirl shape.
  9. Break pretzel sticks into 1-inch pieces and insert four pieces into each side of the filling to create legs.
  10. Place two candy eyes near the top of the filling to create the spider face.
  11. Dust lightly with paprika and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Notes

[‘Use an ice bath to stop cooking and make peeling easier.’, ‘Ensure eggs are completely cool before peeling.’, ‘Add pretzel legs and candy eyes just before serving to prevent sogginess.’, ‘Keep refrigerated until serving time as they contain mayonnaise.’, ‘Can be made ahead: hard-boil eggs up to 2 days in advance.’]
