This Light Apple Cider Caramel Sangria is a happy accident that turned into the perfect Halloween punch. It’s light, refreshing, and just sweet enough to feel like a treat without the heavy sugar crash.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) dry white wine, chilled (Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc)
  • 2 cups apple cider, chilled
  • 1/4 cup caramel sauce
  • 1/4 cup apple brandy or bourbon (optional)
  • 2 apples, thinly sliced (Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Granny Smith)
  • 1 pear, thinly sliced (Bosc or Anjou)
  • 1/2 cup fresh cranberries (optional)
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs for garnish
  • Cinnamon sticks for garnish
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Thinly slice 2 apples and 1 pear. Leave the skin on for color and texture. If using cranberries, rinse them. Place all the fruit in the bottom of a large pitcher.
  2. Drizzle 2 tablespoons of the caramel sauce over the fruit. Use a muddler or wooden spoon to gently press the fruit a few times to release some juice and coat the slices with caramel.
  3. Pour in the chilled white wine, apple cider, and apple brandy (if using). Stir gently to combine.
  4. Taste and adjust sweetness: add remaining 2 tablespoons of caramel sauce if desired, or a squeeze of lemon juice if too sweet.
  5. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (up to 24 hours) to let flavors meld.
  6. Serve over ice, making sure to include some fruit in each glass. Garnish with a rosemary sprig and a cinnamon stick.

Notes

Chill all ingredients beforehand for best results. Don’t over-muddle the fruit—just a few gentle presses. For extra flavor, make ice cubes from apple cider. The sangria tastes better after a few hours in the fridge. For a non-alcoholic version, swap wine for sparkling apple cider or ginger ale and skip the brandy.
