A quick and easy turkey meatloaf made with oats instead of breadcrumbs, resulting in a moist and tender loaf. Perfect for weeknight dinners and guaranteed to please even picky eaters.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ pounds ground turkey (93% lean)
  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 medium yellow onion, finely diced (about 1 cup)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (or 1 teaspoon garlic powder)
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon dried thyme
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
  • ¼ cup ketchup (for glaze)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar (packed, for glaze)
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar (for glaze)
  • ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a 9×5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper or spray with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Finely dice the onion and mince the garlic.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, oats, diced onion, minced garlic, beaten egg, ¼ cup ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and thyme. Mix with your hands or a fork until just combined—do not overmix.
  4. Transfer the mixture to the prepared loaf pan and press it down gently to remove air pockets. Shape into an even loaf.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together ¼ cup ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, and ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce to make the glaze.
  6. Spread about half the glaze over the top of the meatloaf. Reserve the rest.
  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes. At the 30-minute mark, spread the remaining glaze on top. The meatloaf is done when the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  8. Let the meatloaf rest in the pan for 10 minutes before slicing.
  9. Slice and serve warm.

Notes

For best results, use old-fashioned rolled oats (not instant). Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing to keep it moist. If the top browns too quickly, tent with foil for the last 15 minutes. To make ahead, prepare the mixture the night before and refrigerate.
