A stunning and healthy Halloween fruit tray featuring a white chocolate spider web design. Quick to assemble with fresh fruit and a simple piping technique, it’s a crowd-pleasing treat that looks like you spent hours on it.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large green apples (Granny Smith preferred)
  • 3 large red apples (Fuji or Gala)
  • 2 cups red seedless grapes
  • 1 cup green seedless grapes
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled
  • 1 cup mandarin oranges, drained
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil
  • Black gel food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash all fruit thoroughly and pat completely dry with paper towels. Slice apples into thin wedges (about 8 per apple), removing seeds and core. Hull strawberries and halve if large. Leave grapes whole.
  2. On a large round platter, arrange apple slices in a border around the outer edge, alternating green and red. Create a second ring of strawberries and mandarin oranges. Fill the center with red and green grapes, mounding slightly. Leave a small empty space in the very center for the spider.
  3. Place white chocolate chips and coconut oil in a small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring after each, until smooth and melted (about 60-90 seconds total). Do not overheat.
  4. Transfer melted white chocolate to a piping bag or small zip-top bag. Snip a tiny corner off the bag. Starting from the center of the fruit platter, pipe a small circle of chocolate. Pipe larger concentric circles, leaving about an inch between circles, until you reach the outer edge. Using a toothpick, gently drag chocolate from the center outward through all circles to create a spider web pattern. Wipe toothpick clean between each drag.
  5. For the spider: choose one large red grape for the body. Place it in the center of the web. Using a small dot of melted white chocolate as glue, attach eight small green grape halves around the red grape to form legs. Optionally, use black gel food coloring to draw tiny eyes on the red grape.
  6. Allow white chocolate to set for about 5 minutes at room temperature (or 2-3 minutes in the refrigerator). Serve immediately, preferably within an hour of assembly.

Notes

Ensure fruit is completely dry before assembling to prevent white chocolate from sliding off. If white chocolate hardens while piping, microwave for 10 seconds to loosen. For a dairy-free version, use dairy-free white chocolate chips and coconut oil. For a lower-sugar option, skip the white chocolate and use a thin drizzle of melted dark chocolate.
