Crispy Witch Finger Pretzel Rods: 3-Step Halloween Recipe

Crispy Witch Finger Pretzel Rods - featured image

A spooky and simple Halloween treat made by dipping pretzel rods in chocolate, adding almond fingernails, and decorating with red sugar for a gory effect.

Ingredients

  • Pretzel Rods (long, thin)
  • Chocolate Chips (dark or milk)
  • Whole blanched almonds
  • Red gel food coloring
  • White icing or melted white chocolate
  • Red sugar sprinkles
  • Coconut oil (optional, for thinning chocolate)

Instructions

  1. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and have all ingredients ready.
  2. Melt chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until mostly melted.
  3. Hold a pretzel rod by one end and dip about two-thirds of it into the chocolate, tapping off excess.
  4. Place the dipped pretzel on the parchment paper.
  5. While the chocolate is still wet, press an almond into the tip of the pretzel to create a fingernail.
  6. Use a toothpick to add small dots of white icing or chocolate near the ‘knuckle’ area and tiny red dots for blood.
  7. Let the fingers sit at room temperature for 15-20 minutes or in the fridge for 5 minutes until the chocolate is fully set.
  8. Sprinkle red sugar over the wet chocolate for a gory effect and shake off any excess.

Notes

Ensure almonds are dry to prevent chocolate from seizing. If chocolate is too thick, add a teaspoon of coconut oil. For nut allergies, substitute almonds with sunflower seeds or omit them. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
